Vitamins are organic substances which we need, in small amounts, to keep the body vital. Some of them are synthesized in our body and the other are found in the food we eat. Most of them can be found in the alimentary products. Vitamin deficiency can cause serious illnesses. Here are some of the most important vitamins:
Vitamin A – Improves the vision, gives the skin its elasticity and helps the immune system to stay active. It can be found in: butter, liver, eggs, milk and dairy, fruit and vegetables which are brightly colored and contain beta-carotene. In the body the beta-carotene is transformed into vitamin A.
Vitamin B1 – As all the other B vitamins its function is the boost of energy in the body. It affects the transmission of nerve impulses. It can be found in: yeast, wheat germs, pork, chicken and all wheats and dried fruit.
Vitamin B3 – It is also involved in the process of transforming food into energy. It can be found in: all types of meat, mushrooms, wheats and integral bio rye.
Vitamin B6 – Synthesizes the amino acids and the vitamin B3, eliminates the homocysteine – amino acid with damaging effects on the blood vessels. It can be found in: yeast, wheat bran, meat, fish, liver, banana and cauliflower.
Vitamin B9 – Also known as folic acid. It is useful for pregnant women. It plays a mayor part in the development of the fetus, especially the brain, creates red blood cells, and it`s involved in the homocysteine`s process. It can be found in: spinach, green leafy vegetables, and all types of wheat, integral or whole wheat beard and oranges.
Vitamin B12 – Actively participates in the process of creating blood cells, nerve cells and eliminates the homocysteine. It can be found in: liver, all types of meat, also poultry and dairy.
Vitamin C – The most talked about vitamin of them all. It is a strong antioxidant, assures the process of collagen is impeded, improves the immune system and helps wounds heal faster. It regulates the absorption of iron in the intestines. The best way to prepare fish is by adding a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon. If you can, start the day with freshly squeezed lemon, orange and grapefruit juice. They are one of many fruits which contain vitamin C.
Vitamin D – Helps the absorption and fixation of calcium in the bones. Half of this vitamin is produced during sunbathing in our dermis. Only 15 minutes per day are enough to initiate synthetization of this vitamin in the skin. It can be found in: butter, margarine, milk, dairy, fish and etc.
